The history of the establishment of the institute, justification and need
In the anniversary year of 2012, four institutes were created that combined age-old traditions and modern innovations, the main purpose of which is the large-scale implementation of the educational model of the best European universities: from acquiring knowledge to scientifically based application. All four institutes, by unanimous decision of the members of the Academic Council of the Academy, were assigned the names of prominent industrial figures and scientists who are directly related to the fate of our Academy.

How the structure of the institute changed

Since its establishment in 2012, the Educational and Scientific Technological Institute of  Food Industry named after M. V. Lomonosov united the faculties “Technology of grain, bread products, confectionery, compound feed and biofuel”, “Technology of food products, perfumery and cosmetics, expertise and commodity science”, “Technology of wine and nanobiotechnologies” and “Innovative food technologies, restaurant, hotel and tourist business”. MV Lomonosov was the first scientist to conduct theoretical research in the field of creating efficient mills in the middle of the 18th century, and made an invaluable contribution to the development of ideas about food in the light of the achievements of chemistry and mechanics. The Odesa Technological Institute of the Food Industry bore his name from 1968 to 1994.

According to the order of Odesa National University of Technology No. 181-01 dated 29-05-23, a decision was made to rename the Educational and Scientific Technological Institute of  Food Industry from 01.06.2023. Lomonosova M.V. at the Educational and Scientific Technological Institute of  Food Industry named after Bogomaza K.A. To date, it is part of the ESTIFI named after Bogomaza K.A. includes 4 faculties: technology of grain and grain business, innovative technologies of food and restaurant and hotel business, technology and commodity science of food products and food business, technology of wine and tourist business.

On June 22, 1922, on the initiative of the outstanding domestic specialist – engineer Kostyantyn Andriyovych Bogomaz, the first higher educational institution in the country for the training of qualified specialists for the flour, flour and grain industry and elevator industry was opened in Odesa on the basis of the Milling and Technical College – the Technical College of Technology grains and flour. He became one of the first technological engineers who devoted himself to milling, the first domestic hardware engineer. An entire era of the development of mechanical engineering, construction and equipment of new mills is associated with the name of Professor K. A. Bogomaz. During the period of work at Anton Erlanger and Co., K. A. Bogomaz built dozens of mills, including the largest in Ukraine, such as the former Brodskyi mill in Kyiv.
